Embraer Teases Flying Car

Embraer’s subsidiary, Eve Air Mobility, has released the first teaser of its electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft this week, signaling the imminent arrival of a new era in urban mobility. The company has announced that the aircraft, set to be produced in Taubaté, São Paulo, is on track to commence services in 2026.

Johann Bordais, the CEO of Eve Air Mobility, expressed confidence in the project’s timeline, highlighting the significance of the innovation for the future of urban transportation.

“We are making substantial progress on the assembly of our first eVTOL prototype, with plans to complete production and initiate flight testing. We are developing services and operational solutions that will support our customers from the start of operations, alongside Vector, an innovative software solution for air traffic management.”

The Embraer flying car, which employs a lift-plus-cruise configuration, features dedicated rotors for vertical flight and fixed wings for cruising. Unlike other designs, this configuration does not require components for transitional phases during flight.

In the teaser shared on X (formerly Twitter), details of the eVTOL are somewhat scarce, but it has been confirmed that the aircraft will be equipped with eight propellers for vertical takeoff and landing capabilities, as well as fixed wings for cruising.

The company has disclosed that the latest design incorporates a propulsion system powered by dual electric motors, which Eve claims will “offer redundancy and ensure high performance and safety.”

Embraer has already secured over 3,000 orders for the flying car, despite keeping the pricing for each unit undisclosed. The anticipation for the new technology is high, as it promises to revolutionize the way people and goods move within urban environments.

As the world watches the advancements in eVTOL technology, Embraer’s commitment to sustainability and innovation positions it at the forefront of the electric aviation industry. The company’s efforts in developing a comprehensive solution for air traffic management further solidify its role as a leader in the creation of a new urban mobility ecosystem.
