fox news coming to Brazil latin america

Fox News, Known for Fake news and Right Wing Bias, Wants to invade Latin america

Fox news, a “news” channel known for spreading fake news and right wing propaganda, has recently announced it has plans to expand to Latin America, and specially Brazil. Their plan? Arriving in Brazil mid election time, to spread misinformation and get a right wing candidate elected.

This comes not long after the U.S. reiterates its desire to basically colonize, through force or manipulation, the entire of latin america. It was all describe in Trump’s new “national security strategy” document.

The Murdoch Evil

If you don’t know who the Murdoch’s are, here’s a quick history:

The Murdoch family was embroiled in a succession battle for control of the group, but there is no amount of money that cannot resolve it. The $3.3 billion settlement that ended the Murdochs’ family dispute over succession at the helm of the media group represents much more than a family matter.

This decision will define the ideological orientation of American conservative media for the next few decades. When Rupert Murdoch, at 94 years old, managed to consolidate control in the hands of Lachlan Murdoch, he ensured that the conservative editorial line of Fox News would remain unchanged.

The family dynamics perfectly mirror the dilemmas of the TV series “Succession.” Three of Rupert’s children (Prudence, Elisabeth, and James) posed a real threat to the conservative model of Fox. James, in particular, had already publicly broken with the editorial line, supported Biden in the 2020 election, and financed climate causes.

The decision to pay $1.1 billion to each dissenting child was not merely familial generosity but rather a strategic investment in maintaining conservative influence power.

With Lachlan in charge, the programming has already shifted. The weekend schedule overhaul prioritized figures like Kayleigh McEnany (Trump’s former press secretary) and Tomi Lahren, signaling a reinforcement of the Trumpist agenda. The cancellation of “MediaBuzz,” the last regular media criticism program on cable TV, shows that Fox is less interested in self-reflection and more focused on narrative consolidation.

Numbers that speak louder

Fox News’ viewership figures reveal an impressive dominance. Between January and August 2025, Fox maintained an average of 2.3 million prime-time viewers, while MS NOW reached only 821,000 and CNN had 450,000.

However, this leadership coexists with credibility issues that have cost the network dearly. The $787.5 million settlement with Dominion Voting Systems and the $2.7 billion lawsuit from Smartmatic expose the price of controversial narratives about the 2020 elections.

Fox News discovered a lucrative formula: turning political polarization into a captive audience. By eliminating spaces for internal criticism and reinforcing conservative voices, the network bets that its core audience will prefer confirmation of their beliefs over uncomfortable questions. This model works commercially. Fox’s stock rose by 24% in 2025, but it raises questions about the role of media in American democracy.
