Have you noticed your favorite big channel suddenly have a dip in quality? Well, there is a reason behind it: They might have been acquired by a company. And while being acquired doesn’t equal loss in quality, when it comes to publicly traded ones… the result is always the same: Buy, milk for money, get rid of, repeat.
In this article, I’ll list all the channels I know have been bought by companies, and which companies are they, share a video on the topic.
Why?
Huge channels are basically business, and making content costs money, so when a multi-billion dollar company comes to creators offering a big load of cash, they tend to sell out. Specially since youtube’s fame and revenue is never guaranteed.
As to why big companies would buy youtube channels? Simple: They get more views and are cheaper to acquire than the old media ever was. Not only that, while production is expensive from the creator’s perspective, compared to TV and movies, they are dirty cheap for big companies.
