ASUS recently rolled out a new (BETA) BIOS update for select AMD AM5 motherboards, introducing a feature called Turbo Game Mode. This mode is specifically designed to improve gaming performance by focusing on single-threaded tasks. By disabling one of the CPU’s chiplets (CCDs) and turning off Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT), it directs power where it’s needed most, lowering latency and enhancing gaming efficiency.

The flagship ROG X870E Crosshair Hero was the first to receive this feature, with more ASUS models from the X670, B650, and A620 lines expected to follow soon. Turbo Game Mode is especially useful for games that don’t require tons of cores, allowing gamers to tune their system’s performance to meet the demands of these titles more effectively.

ASUS hasn’t revealed specific performance gains yet, but it’s worth noting that GIGABYTE recently launched a similar update, called X3D Turbo Mode, for their AM5 motherboards. They claim that this feature can boost AMD Ryzen 7000X3D and Ryzen 9000 series CPU performance by 20-35%!

New version just came out officially, so I tested on my system(has a Ryzen 7 7800x3D) and… well barely any difference at all in games.

On top of that, the (much) lower amount of threads decreased the performance for productivity(video editing, blender and overall multitasking if there are lots of applications open) a bit, so overall not a good trade
