After some long time considering my options, I decided to finally move from Brave to Waterfox.
I was unsure when I first checked it, because its a small project and uses mozilla’s sync stuff(which requires a mozilla account) but I learned they keep up with firefox updates quite well(specially security) and the sync option is end-to-end encrypted, so mozilla has no access to my information.
Now, why Waterfox and not other options? well:
- Google Chrome: its google, they will collect and sell any and all data. 0 Trust here.
- Firefox: Mozilla no longer respects user privacy and keep doubling down on A.I.
- Brave: I’ve found a long list of controversies and bad practices.
- LibreWolf: Good firefox fork, but no mobile support or sync between devices.
- Ecosia Browser: Slow, buggy, and now has A.I. which defeats its ecological goals.
- Opera: Owned by Chinese company, horrible privacy.
- Edge: Just like Google Chrome, owned by big tech, will collect and sell all your data.
- Safari: Mac/iOS only, and I’m never buying either. Nor do I trust Apple.
