According an article from Olhar Digital, the new phone CPU from mediatek(which just got announced) seems pretty interesting.
- Compared to its predecessor, the Dimensity 9400, the new chip offers up to 32% more performance in single-core tasks and 17% in multi-core tasks, while also reducing peak performance energy consumption by up to 55%, according to MediaTek.
- The efficiency is also due to the adoption of four-channel UFS 4.1 memory, which doubles the data read and write speed compared to the previous generation.
- The chip is equipped with the 9th generation NPU 990, allowing it to run models with up to three billion parameters at twice the speed and with 42% less energy consumption.
- The chip supports the BitNet 1-bit standard, which reduces the power usage of large language models by up to 50%.
- The Dimensity 9500 comes with an updated Arm G1-Ultra GPU, providing 33% more graphic performance and 42% more energy efficiency. It doubles ray tracing capabilities, reaching up to 120 frames per second.
- It also includes support for 5CC carrier aggregation, which increases 5G bandwidth by 15% and reduces Wi-Fi energy consumption by up to 20%.
If they can deliver all that, I’ll be impressed. Specially with the efficiency gains, as Mediatek has been behind snapdragon on that specific area for a while.
