Embraer unveiled a wave of agreements at the Farnborough International Airshow on Tuesday, locking in 28 firm orders for its E-Jets E2 family with three airlines while positioning itself for potential production of up to 58 aircraft if all options and purchase rights are exercised. The Brazilian manufacturer also announced a new collaboration with Sweden’s Saab that could bring the assembly of 20 additional Gripen fighter jets to Brazilian soil.
Abra Group: Up to 45 Jets
The centerpiece of the commercial aviation package is a deal with Abra Group, the holding company that controls Gol, Avianca, and Wamos Air. The agreement covers 20 firm orders for the E195-E2, the largest member of Embraer’s E-Jets E2 family, plus 10 purchase options and 15 purchase rights that could push the total to 45 aircraft.
Deliveries are slated to begin in the fourth quarter of 2027 and will continue in a phased manner over subsequent years, pending the completion of final agreement milestones. The order will be reflected in Embraer’s third-quarter backlog.

For Abra Group, the E195-E2’s range and capacity are seen as ideal for expanding regional networks across Latin America, opening new routes, increasing frequencies, and fine-tuning seat supply to match demand on domestic and regional corridors.
The E195-E2 is powered by next-generation Pratt & Whitney GTF engines and incorporates advanced aerodynamic features, which Embraer says deliver a significant reduction in fuel burn and carbon emissions compared to earlier-generation regional jets, alongside improvements in passenger comfort.
Adrian Neuhauser, CEO of Abra Group, emphasized the strategic value of the aircraft:

Two More European Airlines Join the E2 Roster
Spanish regional carrier Binter, which connects the Canary Islands with mainland Spain, Europe, and Africa, signed for five firm orders of the E195-E2, along with four purchase rights. The deal supports Binter’s growth plans across its island-hopping network.
Luxair, Luxembourg’s national airline, converted existing purchase rights into three firm orders for the smaller E190-E2 and secured one additional purchase right. The conversion formalizes Luxair’s commitment to the E2 family as it modernizes its fleet for European regional operations.
Gripen Fighter Expansion on the Horizon
Beyond commercial aviation, Embraer and Saab announced a memorandum of understanding that could see up to 20 additional Gripen E/F fighter jets assembled at Embraer’s facility in Gavião Peixoto, São Paulo state. Under the arrangement, Embraer would complement Saab’s Swedish production line to meet potential growth in global demand for the combat aircraft.
The partnership builds on a collaboration that began more than a decade ago, when Brazil signed a 36-aircraft procurement contract with Saab in 2014. Gavião Peixoto already hosts the only final assembly line for the Gripen outside Sweden, producing components and carrying out integration and testing for the Brazilian Air Force’s fleet.
Taken together, the commercial and defense agreements announced at Farnborough signal Embraer’s dual-pronged strategy: consolidating its leadership in the 70–150-seat segment while deepening its role in advanced military aviation through international partnerships.
