Privacy isn’t just a matter of not getting annoying ads, it’s safety. When you give a company your information, they can do anything with it.
Recently, it was found that Persona, the most popular age verification service, keeps your information for way longer than they admit, AND give it directly to the U.S. government, who in turns gives it to ICE and companies like Palantir.
They add you to a surveillance list. Investigate you based on your face/information given, analyze background, track your activities online, etc. All under the excuse of “online safety”, “age verification” and “think of the children”.
These are some of the known companies using their services:
- OpenAI (ChatGPT)
- Discord
- Roblox
- VRChat
- DoorDash
- Etsy
- Brex
- Coursera
- Carahsoft
- Swan Bitcoin
- Mercury
- Wealthsimple
- Branch
- WeTravel
- Grailed
- Eaze
- Stifel Financial Corp
- First Republic
- Fire & Flower Holdings
- Serviap Global
- Twilio
- Lime
- Square Capital
This list probably isn’t complete, and there may be many more. NEVER give companies a picture of your face, ID, location or anything similar. Always use fake ones. Lie about that data.
Do not give any of them any private information. Avoid those companies as much as possible. The more you let them learn about you, the more the whole world, not just the U.S., becomes a surveillance state.
Privacy is extremely important, specially in an increasingly dangerous world like ours. If you value yours, take a look at my tutorial on how to protect your privacy and stay viligant!
