Brazilians might be a lost cause.

Brazilians, on average, are pretty nice to everyone. I would know, I AM brazilian. That said, on average, brazilians are a lost cause.

People in Brazil aren’t just stupid: They’re proudly stupid. They will scream and shout their idiotic ideas, and even when corrected they won’t change. It’s more than just not learning from history, its learning, laughing at it then saying “nah, it wasn’t that bad”. Then they repeat history, forget how bad it was 4 years later, and repeat it again.

Example: In Brazil, everyone and their dogs learn about the dictatorship of 1964-1985. It’s a mandatory subject in every school across the country. There are whole movies and books on it. We all learn how thousands died and thousands more were tortured for speaking out or trying to protest, not to mention the whole country being censored. There are public documents, photos, videos, audios, etc.

But brazilians want it again. 69% preferred democracy in 2024, down from 79% in 2022.

It’s like if Germans, less than 40 years after World War 2, started wanting Hitler back in power.

They only want their candidates as dictators however, as after Lula got elected in 2021, some people started saying the country lives under “a terrible dictatorship” (read, people who break the law but are bolsonaristas got arrested instead of having special treatment). Would they say the same if Bolsonaro did it to left-wings?

Brazilian people also LOVE to vote against their interests.

Increase the minimum wage? Why? Only 35% of the population lives on it! It’ll increase inflation by 0.01%! Also what do you mean reduce weekly hours from 44 to 40? Think of the rich and how they’ll lose absolutely nothing but control over your time! And don’t even dare talk about taxing the rich! Can’t you see how I, despite working 44h/week at a supermarket, will one day be a billionaire? I don’t want to pay another 1% in taxes when I have that much money!

People are poor in Brazil, yet they vote for the rich. It’s a highly concentrated form of stupidity that I’m sure they’d be surprised by, if they could read this article(mind you, english is MANDATORY at school, and every city has dozens of private courses, but nobody takes it seriously, so only 1% are fluent).

You’d imagine people would eventually know better, right? Wrong. 60% of Brazilians trust social media more than news websites or TV. They trust platforms made to make you addicted, KNOWN for spreading misinformation and propaganda, more than news websites, researches and statistics. Nobody checks sources, most don’t think even once let alone twice before sharing stupid takes.

It’s like a country of mindless drones.

Brazilians want the right to work until they die. They want the right to not have rights or be allowed to criticize the government. They want to not know anything. And they are PROUD of it! As long as there is carnival and soccer, they will enjoy their slavery!

This, obviously, doesn’t apply to everyone. There are people who know better, who study, who try, but Brazil has become the real life idiocracy. People who try end up just suffering, so they leave. Between 2015 and 2022, 6.700 scientists left the country, because politicians don’t care about science, nor do most people.

Do you have any idea what 6.700 scientists could do in 7 years? That could be some 2 THOUSAND researches done, advancing the country toward a brighter future. But it won’t anymore, not in Brazil.

And it’s not just researchers. People with degrees are leaving the country even when there are opportunities here, because why would you stay in a class full of clowns when another will treat you better? In 2023 there were nearly 5 million brazilians officially living abroad and I bet they have no plans to ever come back.

So that’s the state of Brazil. Poor people who vote for the rich, idiots who could know better but don’t want to, a strong desire to suffer more and the love to complain for the wrong reasons after.

Brazilians might be a lost cause.
